Do you think it is important to blog the same time everyday?

I am trying to figure out how to get more consistent visitors and comments on my blog?

Some of my favorite blogs post each day at the same time, and others are very sporadic about their posting -- which do you feel is best? Have you tried out being consistent with your own blog postings?

Thank you to all!

Re: Do you think it is important to blog the same time everyday?

I find that I get the most visits when I post in the morning. I don't post at the exact same time but I try to post before noon.

I do think it's important to have some kind of schedule, especially if you have dedicated readers. With that said, don't worry if you have trouble sticking to a schedule. As long as you are posting and promoting, you will get visitors.

I am the most un scheduled sporadic blogger. I post when time permits and if I have lots of orders to work on I may not post at all for several days. I think my readers are just as sporadic as my posts but that's ok. I still get visitors and that is what matters.

Re: Do you think it is important to blog the same time everyday?

I write most of my blog posts on Sunday afternoon- or at least start a draft. Then I can finish them during the week. I always try to finish each post the day before and then I set them to post the next morning- always at 8:00 am. I don't know if posting at the same time helps bring in readers but it does help me keep up with my blog, just knowing that I haven't finished my post for tomorrow. Before I started doing it this way I was really sporadic and it got really frustrating for me because I'd always run out of time and put it off until tomorrow. Unfortunately, I am a champion procrastinator...

Re: Do you think it is important to blog the same time everyday?

How do you schedule posts if you want to write them in advance and have it auto-post itself sometime later?

I hope a schedule doesn't matter! I am totally random.

Re: Do you think it is important to blog the same time everyday?

It is better if you post in the morning and are consistent about when you publish, like three times a week on a specific day.

The reason is because you will get more followers on Kindle and that actually pays a little. I think I make about $60 per month on subscribers. Subscibers need you to be consistent.

That said, I try, but fail to be that consistent. But I've also gotten criticized for that. ONline! My reviews were very good except for that.

I don't post the exact time since I guess I have followers who live in different continents. I sometime post in the morning, sometime in the evening. I don't post everyday.

Re: Do you think it is important to blog the same time everyday?

I always post early in the morning...between 5-7a.m. CST. It's just the best time for me and I get early placement here in the Blog Team thread. :-)

Re: Do you think it is important to blog the same time everyday?

What is this about Kindle? I have never heard of following this way!

The morning is just never good for me, since I have little ones. I usually get time between 11 a.m. and dinnertime, but it's never consistent. Maybe I should start writing in advance? I just never know what I am going to share until I sit down to do it and then it still usually changes into something else?

Thanks so much for all the feedback!

I don't remember how I got onto the Kindle thing! I think I signed up on Amazon. I'll go poke around and see if I can retrace my steps. Maybe I can find that review for you, too, because it was rather interesting.

Morning makes sense, but I usually take pix during the day and then craziness ensues and the only peaceful time to post is after everyone else is in bed. I figure it will be there first thing in the morning for the early risers!

Here's the review that talks about being consistent with posting times, etc.

I can't for the life of me remember how or figure out now, how I signed up for sale on Kindle. If anyone figures it out, let me know!

Re: Do you think it is important to blog the same time everyday?

I plan out any posts that require pictures of me and/or my projects in advance. I take the pictures a day or two before, and usually write a draft while I'm watching TV with the Hubs. Blogger lets you schedule posts by clicking on "post options" at the bottom of the screen.

And yes, consistency is important!

Re: Do you think it is important to blog the same time everyday?

I did a bunch of conversion testing last year on my businessy blogs (that gets over 10k uniques a day) and I've found the following:

-Best posting time for max exposure: Friday, 4pm
-Best for retweet exposure: Saturday, 9am
-Best for facebook share exposure: Sat/Sun, 8-9am

Things to keep in mind is that the demographic might be different in the arts and crafts crowd than the business crowd and the data is old, so it could have shifted somewhere.

But it does make sense to me that it looks like the way it does. So generally, I like to post in the morning-ish, like 10am-Noon (after taking into account the time zone difference, I am on the east coast) since people at work, in front of computers tend to share around that time. If i really want to expose a certain post, then I shoot for a late friday post. Its worked fine for me so far.

I also second what Heaven says.. its better to be consistent than sporadic. I personally like to schedule my posts for the next day "prime time". I don't usually publish right away unless its a time sensitive post or if I forgot to publish it and saved it as draft instead (like I did today *sigh*)

Also, for enabling your blog on kindle, see: https://kindlepublishing.amazon.com/gp/vendor/sign-in?ie=UTF8&originatingURI=%2Fgp%2Fvendor%2Fmember... (not sure what's up with the images?)

Re: Do you think it is important to blog the same time everyday?

I've found I've gotten better responses when I publish in the morning hours since a lot of my readers check in at different times. As far as writing them goes, I'm a big fan of scheduling my blog posts in advance so I give myself some lead time. I don't always have enough time on a regular basis to post on specific days, which can hurt readership, and I know things work best when I can sit down and knock out a few posts for a couple weeks ahead of time.
