I know in the past flickr was a great way to get noticed. But I stepped away from flickr for quite a while after reports of people having accounts closed for linking to a shop - even paid accounts - and losing all of their photos. Flickr recently made some big changes and I'm re-examining using my account again. Does it still have the momentum it was did or have you found instagram is a better use of time at this point as far as photo sharing sites? Thanks for your thoughts!
For me instagram is the best mainly because I can't ever remember to log in to Flickr lol. I have gotten views from flickr, but I've gotten sales from instagram.
I guess I just don't understand how one can get sales from instagram. I use my phone for instagram and I would never make a purchase from it and not all sites even allow check out via mobile applications because of security and infrastructure. Has it changed so that you can follow people online via instagram or are the sales resulting from sharing the instragram pics via social networks?
People see something they like on instagram, click my shop link, and make a purchase. You can check these things out via Google Analytics under Visitors Flow.
For me: it's no different than getting sales from Twitter.
Maybe I'm just not savvy with instagram. I only browse on my phone and I never click through to individual profiles. I just heart photos I like. I didn't even realize I could browse via my computer/lap top. Is that new?
I used to use Flickr to upload pictures to my blog and onto ravelry.com I stopped because I hit the photo limit and would have had to pay to keep posting pictures. I want to check it out again since they made all the changes. I haven't used instagram because I don't have an I phone.
Daphne, you can use instagram on android phones too. they made a website about a year ago, but it isn't usable for real. you have to use your cell phone.
I have an android HTC I bought. I got the "older" model for $200 when the newer model came out for $300. It's been so worth it. Plus my phone bill is only $35 a month plus taxes - $37 and change - and it's unlimited texting and data. I only get 300 minutes at that rate but I only use about 35-100 minutes a month. I will never go back to a contract plan.
