Hi Sister.
I find that the two work hand in hand. As a fine artist, sales sometimes aren't the first thing to happen. And as you can see from my postcard sales, sometimes the "product" isn't whipping out the door either.
I have tried to compartmentalize the different media in my mind. Blogging is about community building. Connecting with people and sharing what I am passionate about.
I have noticed that since I have been promoting my blog with this team, I have met a ton of interesting and wonderful people. My readership has increased and that has made my blog life that much fuller.
As far as outside interests such as press and blog apporaches, most of that happens through the relationships that I have made in the blogging community outside of Etsy.
I think that both have something to bring to the party. And I agree that the blog is a super valuable tool. Especially for these reasons:
I'm pretty social and work alone. The blog gives me an outlet that is quick and you get to interact with people all over the world. So global. That is pretty cool!
Blogging is more of a living breathing organism. It gives people a place to find out more about you and the world you live it. I think it is a valuable resource. Websites seem to be a static, professional face that you wear. Maybe almost an archive. Etsy is quicker, more conversational and about the "product".
Etsy is more about the "business". Artists don't talk about business that much. It is a good place to learn.
Well, I could go on and on but, feel like I a loosing my focus. I love your work by the way.
xo
