hey tess-"backlinks" means someone is linking back to your blog. let's say you posted a killer tutorial that everyone loves. they might "pin" it or post on facebook or blog about it themselves. hopefully, these awesome people who love your tutorial are mentioning you and your blog in all their loveliness. that would be a backlink :)
you could ask a few friends/bloggers to blog about your shop or blog with links to bring in more shoppers or readers.
