Announcing Giveaway Winners on Blogs?

I see a lot of giveaways on blogs and then never see a winner posted or a thank you for entering the contest is now closed. How do you handle announcing the winners of your giveaways or do you? Do you just contact them privately? Do you announce the end of the contest? I looked at maybe 20 and not one showed anything more than the giveaway and nothing beyond that and they were all past the end date.

My sponsor contacts them via email ... and after she hears back with an address, I post the name at the top of my giveaway, example attached. I also congratulate them on twitter if they have an account.

Thanks Kristin! I thought it was so strange looking through all the contests I never saw a winner or an official end announced once the date came.

I do the same, I edit the post later to include the winner's name..then announce it on Facebook (where the giveaway took place anyways) and on twitter. =)
