Idea for promoting each other on Instagram

First of all, I'm new to this Team and hopefully what I'm asking about hasn't already been tried and it's also allowable to discuss here.

I have had incredible success on Instagram and have actually had some sales leads with IG.

My idea: I was wondering if we can get a hashtag started on IG for Etsy items we LIKE rather than SELL ourselves.

I'm thinking something like #etsyfindfriday (plus #EFF), and use this to tag maybe 2-3 items on Etsy that aren't our own items but we like them enough to promote. If we can get maybe a hundred people to do 3 things each Friday, we could easily get a thousand occurrences of this hashtag in IG's history.

Maybe together we can get #etsyfindfriday right up there in popularity with #mancrushmonday and #throwbackthursday.

Has anyone proposed something like this before? I just think "word of mouth" is the best advertising, and I'd think that promoting others items in your Etsy account is a great (and free!) way to do this.

I did notice that #EFF has 67,000 posts already though.

It'd also be really cool if we could find shops with instagram so we can tag them in the post also, that would definitely help with getting new followers!

I started a thread in the Discussions board and so far a LOT of people think this would be a great idea.

So far, people will be finding Etsy items (other than their own) to promote on Instagram. They'll add in #etsyfindfriday in the comment field.

They will be finding the Etsy items either right here on Etsy, among all the images already on Instagram, Pinterest, or anywhere else Etsy items can be found for sale. It's easy to find Etsy sellers already on Instagram...just look up the hashtag #etsy!

I will personally try to mark around 5-10 such images this Friday morning. Hopefully we can get more people on board and start developing our own well-known IG hashtag.

So spread the word if you can!

This is a great idea. I'm in. My instagram is passion_factor_candle. How do we start? Will you form a group for this? How will we know which peoples products to promote? As you can see, I am amped. Can I discuss this in other teams I am apart of because I believe the more the better.
