Since I just put up a thread about this over in the Engraver's Café (
http://www.engraverscafe.com) I though I'd mention it here.
Marcus Hunt has a book and DVD on how to do English Fine Scroll -
http://www.hunt-engraving.co.uk (click the menu to find it).
I don't want to sound like an ad for other places and things, but Marcus has long opined that every engraver should learn EFS to make them better at engraving in general. Having had the set for a year I have to say; I agree.
EFS is actually a severely minimalist style and learning it will teach you to break your other engraving styles down into their core bits which helps you understand them better which should help you engrave them better.
I sum up the core lesson I've learned from it like this:
"In Life, as in Engraving, it's not the cuts you make that matter, it's what you leave behind."
