how do you keep the wrong person from purchasing a special listing? and what do you when the wrong person does purchase a special listing?

anybody ever had that happen?

Well, it would be unusual for a person to buy the listing if it plainly says that it's reserved for a specific customer. If they do purchase the listing, I would just cancel the transaction and send them a message explaining the situation, and maybe offer to make the same type of deal for them (because obviously they were interested in your item).

hmm that sounds like a good idea, what about if you cannot get a hold of them?

If the individual that purchased the item does not return any correspondence then it may be a scam. I have had a few of them happen where they want to purchase a custom item exactly as in the photo, and the listing clearly says the photo is for representation only and that the item can not be made exactly like that again.

I agree with Charlene. Cancel the listing make the offer and if they do not respond then just let it be.
