Yes, I saw it. didn't comment there though. I've seen discussions like this before.

Personally I don't like the idea of tagging something as knit if it's crochet. Maybe a buyer won't know the diffrence between knit or crochet but I think it's misrepresenting the item.

Re: did you guys see this discussion?

I'm with Amydscrochet... if it's knitted then it shouldn't be tagged as crocheted. It's a misrepresentation of what you're selling in my opinion. Also, Etsy is very clear in their rules when it comes to tagging and I would think that would be frowned upon by then. But I'm new, what do I know? lol :*)

If its knit then its knit. Same with crochet.

I don't tag my yarns as 'sweater', 'scarf' or mittens because that's not what it is.

I think I'm one of those annoying purists being referred to in the original thread. I totally understand wanting views and sales and for people to find you, but I think you take a hit on integrity if you intentionally mistag something.

I agree, it it's knit then knit and crochet, then crochet. Some people just don't take the time to look at the item to notice that it's different stitching all together.

Re: did you guys see this discussion?

Well this conversation was enough to make me add the word "knit" to my tags.

Re: did you guys see this discussion?

But for years, that was against the rules. It never occurred to me to tag both unless I use both techniques. To tag a crocheted item with knit doesn't seem fair, but is Etsy changing the rules just because everyone is going with it?

Re: did you guys see this discussion?

I really don't think it's worth stressing over. I'm not going to tag my items "crochet" because, quite simply, they're not. I sew my seams together but I don't plan on adding "sewn" to my tags either. If I add beads I'm not tagging it as "jewelry". It's knitted... that's all it is. To say otherwise would be misleading. I think enough people do a more basic search (ie: searching for 'fingerless gloves' and not adding knit or crochet) that in the long run, it won't matter much if I'm just honest about my product. :*)
