more frequent deposits

Do you think Etsy will make more frequent deposits, like every day??

Re: more frequent deposits

You don't like getting paid once a week? I think its great. Sort of like having a 'job', if I show up for work and do my job right I get a paycheck direct deposit every Wednesday. Not getting it wakes me up and gets me motivated to work again.

Re: more frequent deposits

I prefer to get paid when I sell an item. However, my sales have increased since DC. so I'm putting up with the inconvenience for now.

Re: more frequent deposits

You can request an earlier deposit and do this every day if you wish. I also have gotten used to the once a wekk thing, and it is just fine. Nice to get big chunks of money instead of little ones every day.

Re: more frequent deposits

Hi, I am new to the team and to direct checkout. As to the question, I prefer a lump sum once a week, like a paycheck. With paypal I would pay myself once a week. But, since I starting using direct checkout I have very few sales with paypal and almost all with direct checkout. I was excepting this month to be slow but I really think direct checkout has helped turned views into more sales.

Re: more frequent deposits

If I have a lot of orders then I just click for an early deposit!! I have found that I get more sales via the DC then via PayPal. I also have square for my local buisness and get a ton of buisness that way as well! People would rather do a debit card or credit card then Paypal, at least that is what I have found.

Thanks,

Nikki:)

Re: more frequent deposits

You can get a daily deposit, but I like once a week. It takes a few weeks to get used to but I find that I spend less money this way.

Re: more frequent deposits

I think the weekly deposit is a great auto feature. The ability to get it more frequent in a manual way allows anyone to choose how they want to be paid. I thought that having it related to shipping the item was the most constricting feature, unlike paypal.

Re: more frequent deposits

Just started with DC and this team. I got my first DC sale the morning I activated it. So far, all is good!

Re: more frequent deposits

I have a question though, you still have to wait 3 days after it is ordered by the customer. Then after that another 3 days for it to show up in your bank account? That is a total of 6days? maybe even 7?

Re: more frequent deposits

On the thrid day after you receive order and have shipped, you can have the deposit made. It appears every time in my account within 2 business days. Paypal takes tow days also when I transfer, so the bottom line is that it takes three days longer than paypal to get your money.

Re: more frequent deposits

I would prefer to get paid sooner than once a week. I also dislike waiting three days for the funds to clear.

Re: more frequent deposits

I understand the process and have seen most my customers are using it which is wonderful, just another way to make some customers more comfortable with buying. I think at least for me, it's the frustration of having a custom made item that takes time to make, couple weeks, and having always had the money available right away for profit, to make purchasing supplies and running a business consistent, staring at $300-$500 sitting in your payment acct that you cant touch until you complete and ship is a very different world than what we are used to...just my opinion.

Re: more frequent deposits

Been using it a few weeks now hasn't really increased my sales and 50% use DC and 50% use paypal, but who's to say if those who used DC would not have paid with paypal anyway, if the choice wasn't available. I really don't like to wait a week for my money either.

I sold something last Wednesday, marked & shipped same day, Saturday funds should have been available for transfer since that is the 3rd day, however funds were NOT available until Monday! I wasn't given the option to "transfer funds earlier" because it was a weekend, so I had to wait 5 days for funds to be available to transfer, however, tomorrow is a holiday and since banks are closed, my money won't be in the bank until Thursday. That makes 8 days to get paid, had to use my paypal funds to pay for shipping and the item is in the hands of the buyer already!

I'm not liking the wait time at all, there really has to be something else Etsy can do about that wait time, come on!!

Re: more frequent deposits

After Etsy makes the transfer to your bank ( 3 days after the order is placed AND if you have shipped), it's going to depend on your bank's processing time. I'm finding with my bank it's just two business days. Etsy is making the transfer late in the afternoon. I have the funds, not the next day, but the following morning.

Re: more frequent deposits

I know you can make a transfer with paypal on Saturday and Sunday, but I don't believe your funds are going anywhere until Monday either. Bottom line is a 3 day difference between the two services.

Re: more frequent deposits

not necessarily true on that...paypal is instant, regardless. the money is there and does not have to be transferred anywhere..most sellers have a debit card and can just drive up the street to any atm and pull the money out in moments...just sayin

Also, I know etsy said this isnt for custom, but as someone else said, that is a lot of etsy sellers to not include because etsy is all about custom...so I hope they consider that and continue to move towards removing the shipping rule...

and lastly, i do believe its the bank process that is the problem here....banks are holding up the deposit in addition to the 3 day wait to release from etsy...this is why paypal has been great, you dont have to worry about a bank handling anything...

i have chosen to deal with waiting to release my funds til my custom items are done, but the wait time after that makes it all an eternity :)

Re: more frequent deposits

I agree. I've had a lot of International orders this week with requests to ship Express and Priority which is very expensive. I wish Etsy would at least release the shipping costs right away.

Re: more frequent deposits

my bank only takes 2 days to clear the deposit, the exact same amount of time it takes when I deposit in my acct from my paypal account.

I have a paypal debit card, but to pay bills I still had to transfer money to my bank, so no real difference in wait time.

I like the once a week. My only complaint is that I have 3 shops and they are seperate deposits.
