signed up for direct check out yesterday, have not been approved yet,waiting for the small deposit to my bank, in the mean time someone purchsed an item and they were allowed to go through the direct check out. know i understand this will take 3-7 days for this to clear through the bank and etsy before i can get paid? how do i explain to my customer that his ordr cannot be shipped while this is going on and why was this offered to him if it was not up and running on my shop yet??

Judy the initial waiting period is 10 days. During that time no money will be transferred to your bank account.

Also, your item MUST BE SHIPPED before Etsy will release the funds to you.

yes, i don't know anything about amazon, but you do ship and then wait for your money. first it comes to your direct checkout account and then it is available to transfer to your bank.

you only wait 3 days after the initial 10 period. You get automatic deposits on mondays, but you can schedule a deposit every day of the week if you like.

if you accept credit cards directly through your business, the bank holds the money for 3 days too.

if you go back to last week, there is a thread where Nicole explains that the minute we get the email, the money is ours and etsy takes the hit for any fraud.
