Use DC and PayPal? Heads up!

I am a newbie to DC, joining only a few days ago. This PayPal issue concerns me greatly. Have I made a mistake in joining?

I would love to hear feedback, positive or negative, as to the impact DC has had on your Etsy success.

About 50% of my sales are DC -- but the other 50% are PayPal. By turning off the PayPal option for buyers, many sellers are losing a lot of sales, because so many people only use PayPal for online purchases, and if the option is unavailable, they will walk away from the purchase entirely rather than use DC.

This "test" -- or whatever they want to call it -- only affects shops that accept both forms of payment, and neither shop owners nor customers were given any notice of this going on. This created lots of confusion (and loss of trust) for shoppers, and for sellers, lost sales and total outrage. If you had a noticeable drop in sales over the weekend, this is probably why.

According to this thread in the Forums (second pinned response), they've turned off this "experiment" for now. Who knows when they'll turn it back on, but I'm just as outraged as everyone else is about it.

Yikes!! Wish I had checked over here this weekend. I wonder if that's why our shop has been so quiet the past few days?

Why is this still an issue? I thought the "experiment" was discontinued on Monday. I find it hard to believe that Etsy would have ever discontinue Paypal. Scream at me if I'm being naïve.

Well I missed all this. I have had DC sales & PayPal sales recently.

Good grief. Is this problem fixed? I'd wondered why my sales have been slow. Reading the forum is just a bug jumbled mess full of answers that don't make sense. Is the problem still occuring or not? That is all I want t know.

Some people are still reporting problems, but I had a PP sale yesterday that went through without incident. I'm hoping the issues have been fixed, but boy, I wish they would stop tinkering with stuff. If it's not broken, don't try to fix it, Etsy -- you just screw it up even worse! And even though "they" say they're not going to get rid of PP, I take everything said with a huge grain of salt. It's always, always, ALWAYS about the money, and if they think they can make more of it by only offering DC, then that's what they'll do. Maybe not right away, but down the road when the dust settles from what's been happening lately. I don't think we've seen the end of the changes around here.....

I bought a couple items today and I could use the Paypal option no problem as a buyer, so I guess its fixed. I also got a couple orders today where they were paid with PP, so I guess its fixed for now. :( I haven't gotten any convos from people asking me what the deal is, so I hope Etsy doesn't mess with it anymore!

That's really strange. I had more sales than usual this weekend, both Paypal and DC, and to my knowledge there weren't any problems. Do you think buyers would say something or just leave if they had trouble with payment? I hope they would contact me.

That's lousy that we're not given advance notice of an interruption. I guess I understand in a way when a site needs to do a little maintenance but notice would help us all, including buyers.
