The Good and The Initial Frustration

The Good: All but one of my sales this weekend since signing up for direct checkout has been WITH direct checkout.

The Initial Frustration: I don't get my money right away until the item is shipped. That is frustrating and difficult as I count on my average sales for my daily income and supply shopping.

I did read the information regarding direct sales, but I had no idea how quick it would effect my daily expectations! Waiting for the first release.

Re: The Good and The Initial Frustration

Once you pass the 10 day waiting period, you can request the funds be deposited the same day you ship. It's an extra step but I do it when I want the money sooner than the weekly Monday deposit. I also noticed last week that the funds were in my account the same day that Etsy deposited them. I don't know if that was a fluke or if the process is getting faster. At any rate I was happy about that. It took me about a month to get used to not having it deposited directly and I have built up a reserve fund for buying supplies. I have about 80% DC and still about 20% Paypal.

Re: The Good and The Initial Frustration

Thanks, Diane, for responding. I was pretty surprised with the immediate sales through DC this weekend. I personally have been so happy with PayPal that I didn't really recognize potential clients might pass up shopping with me as they didn't understand or have PayPal.

Actually, as a businesswoman, I have been wishing that I would keep funds in my account and NOT "release" them until an item has shipped, as I think that is the more responsible thing for me to do, especially to prevent not being prepared for a surprise order cancellation or some other thing going awry. I haven't been able to manage that so far on my own, but now I will be forced to do what I think is best!

I signed up with DC in hopes that the etsy gift certificate program will be a great source of income. I can't wait to tell my clients about that.

I'm interested about the gift certificate program as well. I can see me buying gift certificates for Christmas gifts for friends.

Hi ladies,

I'm also surprised with the immediate sales through DC. I'm hoping it will continue to increase my sales in the future. I'm so excited to see how the new gift card opportunity will do this coming holiday season.

Deborah, oh yeah, the HOLIDAY SEASON! I forgot about that! Sales should be very good when everyone starts spending their gift cards after Christmas!
(rubbing hands together in anticipation- heeheehee!)

By the way, I saw an increase in sales immediately after joining DC. It was freaky.
