Test deposits

Sorry if this has been asked before - I tried searching and got the three-armed sweater.

I know that some people are still being asked to verify two small deposits that Etsy makes into their bank account when they begin DC, but that some people aren't. I haven't gotten any notice that I'm supposed to do this, so I'm guessing I'm one of the ones who doesn't need to. Is there any way to know for sure? If it's something I need to do, I want to take care of it during the initial ten-day wait.

That's a good question! I went back to my "Thank you for setting up Direct Checkout" email from Etsy and it said that Etsy would be taking care of the test. I guess it must vary, not sure why.

If you got the deposits in your bank...

Go to your shop payment account and look in the upper right corner.
If you are one that needs to verify by entering in your deposits there should be a link there. If there is no link then you are most likely part of the test group that doesn't have to verify.

If you can't sort it out one way or the other convo one of the team captains/leaders and they should be able to help you sort it out.

Thanks. All I see in the upper right corner is a link that says "Quick Tips". I hovered over that and a menu came up, but I didn't see anything on it that talked about verifying the deposits, so I'm guessing I'm part of the test group.

I wish they would notify those who are in the test group. There is nothing to "skew" in this test.

It would make for a much smoother user experience for those signing up.

There is enough learning curve with DC for many sellers-- they don't need the extra hassle of trying to figure out if they are in a test group for verification.

Hi there,

Wanted to hop in to clarify -- this is not a test. Rather, we changed the bank information is verified. Prior to August 1, all bank information had to be manually verified by the seller, using two small deposits.

Now, we simply deposit one small deposit (totaling $0.01 USD) and ask that the seller get in touch with us via Etsy Support if they did not receive it.
