Refunding a partial amount in Direct Checkout

I haven't had this problem yet but in looking at an invoice after shipment to the Customer has been made, I noticed that I can cancel a sale but I don't see how I may refund a partial amount to the customer if there is a problem with the item I shipped.and deposit has been made. I automatically put in my shipping info when I ship the order but now I am wondering if I should wait until the order has been received by the customer in case there is a problem. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Has anyone refunded after shipment and after money is deposited?

this is a good question and I'd like to know the answer as well. there are times that I refund shipping, for example.

If you go to your shop payment account and hover over the quick tips in the upper right of the page, it will bring up a menu. The instruction for issuing a refund are there.

Basically, you go to your sold order and click on receipt. On the lower half of the page on the right hand side you'll see Manage Order. If you hover over that you'll see "Issue Refund" or "Cancel Order".

I had to do a partial refund for shipping on my very first order and it is really easy.

Excellent! I needed to refund an overage paid on shipping and was trying to figure out how to do it since the order didn't go through Paypal. Just what I needed to know.

Does anyone know HOW LONG it takes to receive a refund from a DC sale? I was notified that I received a refund for my purchase on Etsy - I used my PayPal debit card (so I'd get the cash back) but I'm not seeing any refund showing up in my PayPal yet. Just curious...

I refunded a partial amount to one of my customers that had paid with the shop payment and it was very easy. The item had been received for a while (about 2 weeks) before I refunded her.

If you just look at the quick tips and follow the directions of refunding it will walk you through it. They make it very simple.
