On The Spot Credit Card Payments

I am going to sell at a craft fair and was wondering how to do credit card transactions immediately if they see something on the website that's available at the craft fair. How do you charge them going through your Etsy account and not charge a shiping fee.I am confused.

You can use a portable device like Square or Paypal's that connects to your smartphone, ipad, ipod, etc. in order to process in person payments. That is how most people accept credit cards in person. There are others out there too based on who the credit card processor is. Propay has their own device as well as Intuit.

To charge them by going through your etsy account would be quite the hassle.

I don't believe direct checkout is setup to be used this way, and most likely not allowed.

That is not quite what Etsy intends, though I suppose you could use a free shipping coupon. Look into getting a Square, PayPal Here, or Intuit Go Payment account to process credit cards on your phone. They are free and take very low processing fees.
