Issue Credit for a cancelled order

A customer purchased an item through direct checkout and moments later asked to cancel. I am OK with the cancelled order if the customer changed her mind.

My question is, Does the customer cancel on her side and receive a credit or do I need to cancel the order and issue credit? I do not see options to cancel an order?
