Deposit into Paypal instead of checking or savings

Why can't Etsy deposit these Direct Checkout payments into our Paypal account instead of depositing them into our checking or savings accounts? Shouldn't Paypal also be a deposit option?

Paypal is neither a bank or a depository. That's why it also needs to be linked up with a credit card or a bank account.

The whole point of Direct Checkout is to move away from reliance on paypal and for etsy to have an independent system.
