Hello,
I wanted to let you know about a change that is going to affect when we process deposits each business day. Currently we process deposits beginning at 4:30 pm Eastern. Beginning on Monday November 5th, we'll start processing deposits at 3:30 pm Eastern. As direct checkout has grown, it is taking us longer to finish processing the deposits, especially on Mondays (or Tuesday if Monday is a holiday). Starting the processing an hour earlier will give us plenty of time to make sure that we can get through all the deposits before our bank's deadline.
How will this affect you? The only thing that is changing is the timing. So you'll get the deposit email an hour earlier and the deposit will be for all funds that become available by 3:30.
You may have noticed that we're doing this the day after Daylight Savings Time ends here in the US. It's not a coincidence. The time on our computers that run the deposit job does not change for Daylight Savings. Their clocks run on Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). This means that when Daylight Savings ends, we won't actually have to do anything to have the job run an hour earlier. As far as the computer is concerned, it will be running at the same time it always ran, but since most of the rest of us in the US will be falling backwards when the job runs on Monday November 5th it will be 3:30 for us. (In the Spring we will change the job so that it doesn't switch back to 4:30 when Daylight Savings starts again.)
Thanks as always for using Direct Checkout. It's truly gratifying to know that so many people are using the systems we work on.
Bill
