printing for dummies please....

Hi I was wondering if I use standard 8.5 by 11 printing paper...well cover paper then how can this size fit right in a 8X 10 frame? I currently have my prints in this standard size and printed up one for testing and it looks good but I noticed it does not fit right exactly in a 8 by 10 frame? How do you print larger sizes?

The paper is too large for the frame correct? You need to trim them down.
For sizes larger than 8.5x11 you will need paper and a printer that can handle larger sheet sizes.

8.5 x 11 just cannot fit into an 8 x 10 frame, a few years of working for a framing company and I got this argument a lot.
I'm not sure what kind of printer you are using but if it is a standard printer (like I'm assuming because of the size you are currently printing at) then when you are creating an image on your computer then you need to make it for an 8x10 size so that you can use a slicer to cut the image precisely to what it needs to be.
Me I have a printer that can print up to 16 x 20 can it prints 8 x 10's on it's own, so I don't have that problem. When I first started locally, however, I just utilized a friend and her printing company to make my prints. Try looking for one and strike a good deal.

Re: printing for dummies please....

I am using the the 8.5x 11 portrait size but my art print images are within the 8 x 10 frame. My question is I printed it on a 8.5 standard page and My images are fine but the paper is too long on one side so what am I suppose to cut it or do I order the paper in the ideal size.

You can do either. Most would cut it down, as many stocks in 8x10 would be custom, and you will pay more for it.

Its good to invest in a reliable cutting mechanism. If you ever want your ink to go to the edge of the page, you'll have no choice but to trim.
