What do you put for quantity?

Hi there,

Since I make digital art (both prints and printables) I can basically make as many of something as I want. On the recommendation of another Etsy seller I've been listing my quantity on each item as "50" mainly to avoid having to relist very often.

Today it occurred to me that quantity may play some part in page rankings. Does anyone know if that's the case? I was pondering how one-of-a-kind items get found and it dawned on me that items with fewer quantities may rank higher because they are in short supply.

What do you put for your quantities and do you know if it makes any difference in the rankings?

I put 10, never want to show a buyer that my item is not unique. Yes indeed I will print my item many times over 10, but buyers sometimes don't see it that way when they see the number "50" in the quantity.

I don't think it has any effect on page rankings. If anything, having the same item renew over and over again is helpful for Etsy search because it keeps its views and favorites. (Spoken by someone whose main shop is OOAK, so is basically penalized in Etsy search.)

Since Etsy is part-time for me, I keep quantities set at something I'd be comfortable saying I could print out immediately - I don't sell digital downloads at this point.
