Stationery Paper Question

Hey everyone, I just joined! I have a question about paper for stationery. What type of paper do you use? I use Epson Ultra Premium Presentation for my prints, but that's probably not the best choice for stationery. Any one have any advice?

Re: Stationery Paper Question

I'm also curious if anyone has found a heavy cardstock that makes photos and graphics look good (not washed out). I have tried pearlized, linen, and recycled papers but don't really like the looks of my images on them. I guess, I'm comparing them to the awesome photo paper prints I get on my Canon printer.

Any suggestions?

I currently use a thick 110lb Vellum Bristol Paper...I get it at Office Depot. It's been really nice, inexpensive and customers seem to like it :)

Re: Stationery Paper Question

Stationary paper: A print shop would use a paper called Classic Linen or Classic Crest paper for stationary and resume's. Its a beautifully textured stock, great for offset and inkjet prints. Still many toner based printers can render decent images on these stocks as well.

Graphics: Avoid textured stocks for graphics and photos. If your looking for a card stock (cover stock) Find one that is gloss coated or krum coated, if your not a fan of gloss, use a stock that is matte coated. Your ultimate goal is to not have your ink or toner penetrate the paper. Be careful of smearing the ink on desktop inkjet printers.

120# Cover HP matte Laser
120# Cover Sterling digital
100# or 120# Newpage Gloss/Matte stock

Do not confuse uncoated media and matte. Its a common misconception that they are the same. You should not be able to feel much of the papers natural texture on a matter stock. HP digital Color Copy Stock is great for toner and inkjet prints

Red River Paper sells some nice papers for inkjets: http://www.redrivercatalog.com/

There's also Waste Not Paper, if you're not looking to reproduce photographs, but instead maybe some simple graphics. It's the wholesale branch of Paper Source.
