Newbie Digital Print Question PLEASE HELP ANYONE??

Hey guys,
I am in the process of opening my shop. It will consist of my hand drawn chalk art and typography, and I will be offering prints and 2 sizes of cards. My question is about the prints. As far as digital prints, do most of you offer PDF, or JPG? What is most convenient for you? Just trying to figure out the logistics before I start uploading. Thanks in advance!!

Re: Newbie Digital Print Question PLEASE HELP ANYONE??

Hi Shannon!
I'm kinda new here, just opened my shop in August and had a few sales. Personally, I've offered JPG's so far. I haven't sold any of those files yet. I just listed a set of printable Valentines that I offered as a PDF and I sold one of those far. It works great. I';m not sure if there's a difference for people when they go to print them, if they're printing them at home. I think a PDF is the most universal, but don't quote me on that. I think that most people and their computers, can handle either. Look at what other people are offering.
How has your shop done so far?

Re: Newbie Digital Print Question PLEASE HELP ANYONE??

I offer all of my printable as jpeg, they are a decent quality, but are not overly large so I can email them out.

A lot of my items are meant to be printed at a photo lab. But, ocassionally, I get someone requesting a PDF. I don't know that most people understand it, I think they just want it on an 8.5x11, haha. So I send them the file as a PDF.

I sell custom digital invitations and I offer pdfs as a standard and jpegs on request. I've been designing for print for quite sometime and all of the professional printers I've worked with prefer pdfs.

I work for a print shop and agree most prefer PDFs. I do offer jogs as an option in my Etsy shop. For at home ink jets printers, I've heard jogs are good. Nothing wrong with a high quality jpg except the file size can be quite large.

I used to go with PDF, but now I offer both options in the variations. Like others have said, if the customer is going to go with a professional print shop, PDF is best. But if they want to print at a photo center they'll need a jpg.

Re: Newbie Digital Print Question PLEASE HELP ANYONE??

I offer both PDF and JPEG for my customers as a standard service. For the time it takes me to save the two files and email away to them, it saves me time in the long run when customers order the wrong file type and I have to go back, trace the order, find the corresponding file, resave and then re- email.

Then my customers have the option to go to a copy centre or a photo lab.
