Adding digitial items and posting items to my store

ok. I am new with this shop to Etsy, but not new to Etsy. Im an new to doing digital files and have a few questions I needed to ask. Ive looked at other sources and tried to get answers elsewhere, but not having a lot of luck. So hopefully you guys can help me out a bit.

Now, what I need to know is how do you offer a digital file where you have to customize the file before the customer gets the download (like name, add photos, change colors, etc.)? I understand you can offer digital files that go directly to the customer once payment is made and Ive seen a few that you download the file elsewhere. But you have to attach a downloadable file to the listing when you ad it too your shop and Im not sure what I should be putting there or how to ensure my customer gets the file when its approved and show proof they got it?

Second, does anyone know how to post photos of created digital items? I have no problem creating a JPEG file of my items and posting them to facebook or to Etsy. In saying that, I cannot figure out how to create ONE photo of a double sided card. I need to be able to pick a background color and ad the photos on top of that. Maybe I should create a photo file of my images, then post that?

Any help you guys can give would be greatly appreciated.

When you make a digital item to sell as a printed item, do you add the cost of creating the file in w/the printing costs? I was originally thinking I will take the cost of printing and add that to the cost of creating the file (dividing the creating cost among the # of items printed and add it to each cost of the item). What do you think? Even though it didnt cost me anything to create the item (but time) I did have to pay for the program I use to create it.

Thanks!

Tina

Update: I figured out how to set up my photos to prepare to post them on Etsy. :)
