how to price a digital item?

I sell digital tutorials in my shop. I make very detailed instructions so every tutorial costs lots of time. I believe every tutorial maker here understands how much work it takes. How much do you think is suitable for a tutorial of making a bracelet?

Re: how to price a digital item?

At the moment I only sell digital art design downloads, will be
doing patterns soon, I am going to charge £5 for my pattern
downloads as you are right they do take time but once the work
is done you do not have to do that one again.

We agree with Silva - making our pdf tutorials takes a lot of time! We priced our ebooks by looking at the cost of an equivalent hard copy book then lowering our cost by half because we don't have the worry of printing and distributing.

Re: how to price a digital item?

I price all mine at $5 each. I figure after a few sales of each, I'll have made up the cost for the time I've put into it. Then again, a program does a lot of my pattern for me, I just spend a few hours (okay, maybe a lot of time!) on each pattern fixing it and making each photo not have 200 colours in it. If I do a custom pattern I'll likely charge more. I haven' t had a request yet though.
