Confused total newbie

Hello Digital Goods Team ! So happy to find you because I am confused.

Right now my shop lists only original items but a friend suggested making prints or downloads of my art cards, plus my mixed media collages I have in the works.

So I'm ' assuming ' it can't be that difficult to scan one of my art cards then save it at 300 ppi, but what next ?
Do I also need the dimensions to be around 1000 pixels, similar to when uploading an image to Etsy ?
Once that is done then am I pretty much ready to upload and sell ? -- doing a couple of test prints first of course.
Or will I have to fiddle about with how the image prints ? -- will it need a border or does that matter ?

I plan to keep it simple, going the Jpeg route and having images print out to maybe 8 x 10 ( if that is possible from my small art ).
My picture editor is Microsoft Picture It 10. It's no longer made but still works well for me.

I have no problem being able to figure out a computer problem, but ask me how and I can't tell you as it's mostly intuitive.
Ask me to print out something that needs to be downsized and on the left of the page and I'll be all day :P

Your help will be greatly appreciated, along with any step-by-step easy visual online tutorials.

Re: Confused total newbie

Hi,
I'm relatively new to the team but I can try to help. I hope LOL. I use photoshop so its fairly simple to size my images to print sizes. I create a lot for digital scrap-booking so most of my files are set at 300 ppi and 12 inches square (3600 pixels).
What I do is create the download image and zip it up. Etsy puts a limit on the file size you can upload of 20mp so zipping keeps the file size down, then I create separate images for the listing graphics set at 1200 pixels square. I also keep those in JPG format compressed to about an 8 or 10. Gives it a good quality but smaller file size for viewing.
With your art, you could set the printed file size to be whatever you want it to be (A4, 5x7, 8x10 etc) and put the final product in the zipped folder to download.
I hope that helps.

Hello Cherise and thank-you for your post.

I have since gone and figured it out myself, which usually happens as I can be a bit stubborn with waiting ;)
For me it was trying to understand the pixel-resolution thing and I think I've figured it out.

Onward and upward !

Thanks again Cherise, greatly appreciate it :)
