In this season of political discord the most glaring difference is that one side wants to encourage hatred and prejudice and the other side wants to spread harmony between races and colors. Trump supporters will try their best to SPIN what Trump is saying like he is a champion for civil rights and anti-racist ,like Jeffery Lord tired on CNN.

But the reality is that Trump is a racist. There is NO amount of "spinning " that can defend Trump's remarks. So if you think Pixar and Disney are propagating this "liberal" Hollywood movies which are much pointed to as destroying the moral fabric of America by the Christian Right, what does the Christian Right want our children to be taught ?


.Especially in animated movies directed to children. I have just watched Zootopia and "how to train your dragon 2 ' and the message sent to children was clearly a message of acceptance. If all of those damn directors in Hollywood are pushing a "liberal " agenda. I had to ask myself , if making movies that accept people for whom ever they are ... gay straight ,different races and religions is a BAD thing, what would be the "message" be if Hollywood was controlled by conservatives? I cannot for the life of me understand if the right wants a different message sent to children, what is that message?

Do they want Hollywood to make more movies that portray white people as superior? Do they want "Liberal Hollywood " to make hateful divisionist propaganda movies like Germany under Hitler made?

I think each and every Trump supporter needs to ask themselves " is this the message you want your children to grow up thinking" ? Do you want your children to immediately assume that all Mexicans are drug traffickers or rapists?? That is the "future world" of Donald Trump as President. It will be a world where any person who is not like "him" is lesser than.

Good grief, he started out immediately, speaking before he even knew facts. If it involved Black and White, Black was right and White was wrong. Remember the Black professor trying to find a way into his home when a White cop thought he looked like he was breaking in. What was the statement Obama made? Something to the effect that the police acted stupidly. That was his first year in office. He always took the Black side before knowing what happened....which, of course, stirred up the Blacks even more.

Just look at all the racial riots that have occurred during Obama's administration...and he stoked them with his comments!

When ever I hear people who repeatedly blame Obama for everything like Limbaugh does , I always see in my head the scene in Forrest Gump where Wesley ( the bus protest boyfriend asshat ) has beaten Jenny and then tries to say it is because of that "lying son of a bitch Johnson". What the hell did Johnson have to do with him being a ass? Anything that happens in America on any day is Obama's fault according Rush. Limbaugh was one of the idiots that pushed the "Godless Obama Dollars" myth.

Now the racism in America is Obama's fault. So I guess I lived in a completely different USA in the 50's to the 90's because I saw a whole lot more open racism and homophobia then and Barack Obama was minor state senator in Illinois

I'm still trying to figure out why Hollywood has supposedly "always been" such a bastion of liberalism (to hear the Right describe it anyway.) I'm a classic movie buff but still cringe inwardly at the scenes of men literally slapping down their wives or girlfriends, for instance. Or portraying people of color as stupid, evil, or figures of ridicule.

I guess liberalism stopped at the gate of the white picket fence in those movies? ;-)

Chats, it is like all of that stuff helped to re-enforce the "my home is my castle" mentality. It was like" I am the king and I do what I want and you are all my subjects".

Men saw that kind of behavior on screen and used it to justify his own violence. Only in recent years ( last 20 or so ) has Hollywood stepped up to say this is wrong.
That is when the right started calling Hollywood "liberal" when there were movies that gave women the power to leave abusive husbands. That was probably the first liberal frontier. Then movies started exposing child abuse ( sexual and physical ) as wrong and not "something that should be only discussed in the privacy of ones home" aka CONTROL.

Hollywood has shown a light on the gay movement and is just now tackling the problem of homophobic fathers beating their your gay sons and throwing them out onto the streets. Once you turn over a rock all kinds of bugs crawl out. So the bugs in this case scream that "liberals" are driving Hollywood, because they are cringing under the light !!!

Also, look at all the 1930s-1950s movies where the "bad girl" always ended up the loser. Had an affair with a married man? illegitimate baby? The chickens always came home to roost and fate "dealt her the hand she deserved."

There's a little-known 1962 movie called The Intruder, in which William Shatner stars as a white supremacist rabble rouser trying to prevent integration in the guise of being a "social reformer." At the time, the movie was so controversial within the industry that it got hardly any play in movie theatres in the USA at all (theatres point-blank refused to show it.) Whether you like Shatner or not, he delivers a powerful performance.

Although the original title (which is also the DVD release's) was The Intruder, it was shown in the UK at the time (where theatres didn't hesitate to carry it) as "The Stranger."

As I understand it, the reason that the administration doesn't use the word "jihadist" is that the literal definition of "jihad" as "to purify oneself or to wage a holy struggle for a moral goal" confers too much respect and legitimacy on the terrorists. Being something of a word nerd myself, I agree with that assessment (and should probably stop using the word myself, come to think of it.)

Taken literally, the Christian Crusaders were also jihadists. They just used a different word for going into another country specifically to kill people who practiced a different faith, with the intention of converting those peoples' idealogy and lifestyle to that of the Christian belief. After all, the Crusaders were just as convinced of the rightness of their cause as today's jihadists are, weren't they? And those that weren't, were probably just in it for the financial gain and/or political reasons (Richard the Lionheart being a case in point.)

Hmmm... well, I suppose that "jihadist" is probably comparable to someone calling a zealous christian a "holy roller" or "bible thumper", I guess. Although the latter two don't connote anything violent.

But I don't understand why "sharia" would be considered offensive. Isn't it just a particular type of interpretation of the Koran? Isn't that the same as calling a Christian person a "Creationist" for instance?

I'd never heard the word takfir before, so just looked it up. It seems to have the same meaning an accusation of heresy in the English-speaking world. Do people call others "heretics" anymore? I've no idea.

I still hear "godless heathen" tossed about though, LOL. Nobody else seems to care if atheists are disrespected ;-)

Maybe the solution is to continue to vigorously fight Isis but for the media to stop reporting every wacka mole who goes and does something barbaric and then facebooks or emails or twitters his pledge to Isis. Racheal Maddow show last night showed when Isis changed their directive from having recruits come to the region for radicalization and just started saying """ Stay home find soft targets. Go kill as many people as you can and be sure to make a public pledge to Isis so we can get the street cred for it. ""

That is exactly what some of these new "fighters for Isis" are doing
Isis has never met them or spoke to them but they are encouraging mentally unstable people to commit horrific crimes and then "pledging to Isis" so it makes Isis look bigger and more important than it really is. I AM NOT saying we just stop reporting the news. I am saying that Isis is being fueled by the media emphasizing the crazy persons membership to a Radical Islamic organization that they were actually never a member of.

Lets say that I got jacked up on some drug, lost my mind and went to a local church with an ak47 sprayed the crowd and before someone took me out I screamed ""Praise be to BUDDA"" does that make me a validated member of the Buddist religion? The shooter seems to have been interested in a whole smorgasbord of radical ideologies, from reports I have seen, and several of them were in direct conflict with each other philosophically. So, like you said, just because he decided to roll his final dice on the Isis table doesn't mean that he was a card-carrying member of that organized group.

Sounds as if he was one very confused, conflicted angry resentful dude with a lot of strong emotions and impulses leading him in several different directions at once.

On the topic of gun control. Here is my solution demand a vote on banning guns that are ar 15 and ak 47 style and large capacity magazines ( I am not going to get into the trap argument of "you know that those guns are not yaydayadyda" because frankly I do not own one and dont want to_)

Make sure that America knows that the live vote will be televised and at a time when most Americans can watch..
So lets schedule the vote in the house and in the senate but before the coverage starts and the vote is taken, with out advance knowledge ,,Lock the doors, turn down the lights and play the entire CCTV video surveillance tapes with all of the gun fire and all of the screaming and all of the dying that happened at the Pulse. ( note that I DID NOT SAY show it to all of America) Then bring up the lights open the live feed to America and have all of America witness every member of our government place their vote. Each member who votes NO will have immediate broadcast of their name and how much the NRA has given that member. If they vote yes the amount the NRA gave them will not be shown.

If the NRA is going to pay these members to keep the flow of gun sales going we need to know who they are and how much they have taken from the NRA, because they seem to have forgotten who they really do work for. WE have every right to publicly show how much our politicians are being bribed by the NRA.
Here is a big shocker .... Thom Tillis a GOP senator from North Carolina has recieved from the NRA in the past 7 years a whopping $4,418,833, over 4 million dollars.

Enough is enough is enough, it is time to do what we should have before the children of Sandy Hook died and every life taken by an assault weapon since then.

The NRA has reclassified the AK 47 from a military rifle to a "modern day hunting rifle".......... well that changes everything. It make it so family friendly it should be a boy's first gun.

The Orlando shooter did not have an AR-15. And, the AR-15 is not an assault rifle...it is not an automatic...you must pull the trigger every time you shoot; one pull, one shot. This rifle is used by hunters; female hunters prefer it because it doesn't have the recoil that a shotgun has.

Guns aren't to blame. This dick had been watched by the FBI at one time...they were concerned about his terrorist leanings. So, how come he was able to legally buy a gun??? You libs want gun control, why not just institute some common sense regulations about who can't legally purchase a gun. Of course, criminals will always find a way. And, as a law abiding citizen, I would rather have an AR-15 to protect myself against someone who HAS an AR-15. It's light weight and easy to use.
