Re: July 2012 chat

My goal- stick with the diet I began a few days ago. And try not to eat fruit after 2pm, as required. I'm so in the habit of having some dessert before bed. Last night I cheated and had strawberries. Tonight I'll be better.

Nicole, breakfast is the best meal of the day, body wise:)

Goal for the week. Exercise at least three times. Not have a bedtime snack, which is hard 'cause M always has one.

Re: July 2012 chat

Goals for this week = Step class 5 times and to eat less junk food.

laura - what diet makes you stop eating fruit at 2:00? Without fruit at night i would head straight for the cookies, or whatever we happen to have.

Re: July 2012 chat

Anna, it's called the 17 Day Diet by Dr. Mike Moreno. Basically, in the first 17 days you eat lean proteins(fish & poultry), tons of vegetables, and you get 2 servings of fruit and 2 servings of yogurt a day. He says that if you restrict your fruit to before 2pm, you're less likely to convert those sugars/carbs into fat.
This first cycle is a cleansing diet geared towards getting your body to burn fat like crazy. After 17 days you go onto cycle 2 which allows you some more meat choices, some complex carbs on every other day, and I think a little cheese. I miss cheese.

I eat one of my 2 yogurt/kefir servings at night.

Man, today was tough! I went shopping and missed lunch time by 20 minutes. I thought I was going to pass out in the store. Thankfully I brought a few tofu pups with me which was just enough protein to get me home.
I find that I've got to eat 'on time' with this diet.

Sound like an interesting diet. Don't think I could do it. I need carbs. Good carbs. 9 grain breads, etc...

Not doing well food wise today. Will get my step class.done.tonight though.

Re: July 2012 chat

I LURV carbs. I really think it's my favorite food group; give me brown rice, oats, corn and quinoa and I'd be happy! Unfortunately my body has gotten really good at converting them to fat:(

We'll see if I survive, Anna. I'm on day 5; almost 1/3 of the way there. Supposedly, if I'm very good, I should lose 10lbs by the 17th day. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Enjoy your step class!

I failed yesterday too. Skipped breakfast, I felt to nervous to eat and ended up going to Tims after my meeting.

Doing better today. :)

Re: July 2012 chat

I just dont have the discipline to follow a specific diet. I eat very well, but just way too much when I get stressed or bored. What does work is showing myself what I eat. So what I do is write everything down I eat, spend a bit of time to get the calorie amounts from the net. It helps me then to bring the amount I take in inline with my activity level. So far 'pretty good' .... We'll see when I weigh myself Friday morning. It should be encouraging as I always get an initial drop of a pound or two when I start out recording stuff. The hard parts keeping it going.
