I've never done that before. If she wants something in your store, then she should buy them.

I have done "reserve" listings for people who want custom items. Then I make a separate posting for them that has their name on it.

Re: How do you reserve an item for a buyer?

Hi Judith,
I simply put RESERVED in front and back of the description. Then in the first line I say ****Reserved for X____"
I would recommend agreeing on a date of purchase with the person. People ask me to reserve in my Vintage shop all the time, usually until payday. Then when that day comes around, they go purchase. If they don't purchase that day I send them a friendly reminder convo.

Hope this helps!

I agree with Sylvia. I put reserved in the title and the first line with the buyers name. The buyer and I agree on a purchase date before I make changes to the listing. Most shoppers are sensitive to "reserved" items on Etsy and won't try to purchase such items.

Sylvia - Good advice about agreeing on a purchase date. I've had buyers wanting a reserved / custom listing, but then not buy it.

I do the same, just list it as "Reserved for _______" in the title. Then I do a detailed description of what is included in the listing: if there's multiple items, specific colors, instructions for checkout, if a discount is already included in the price, etc.

I'm mean - I won't do reserved. I'll do custom work all week long, make custom listings, etc, but never reserve. Too many years as a costumer - people ask you to hold something for them and then never return, and you could have sold it three times over. Arg.

But yes, what they described above - plus a set date and time in which you take it off reserve.
