Picture help!

Ok first, I am SOOOO glad I found this group! I am in some desperate need of some help.

I used to take my photos next to the window in my house... but we have since moved to an apartment and such a window does not exist.

So I made my own light box, consisting of a brown box, cut out on all sides but the bottom and covered on three sides with muslin, I have two lights that I am using to put on each side of the box. Im using a 65 watt daylight (natural light) bulbs.
But my pics are still coming out badly- even with some editing....
Can some one pretty please help me...

Thank you so much in advance- I cant wait to check out this group!!

Re: Picture help!

@sugarstripes - what camera are you using? i noticed some of your shots are color corrected while others aren't.

i would do a quick diagnostic to correct for some oopsies.

1) check your camera settings to see if it's set on daylight balanced.
2) make sure your other lights in the room are turned off and that only the daylight balanced bulbs are on.
3) make sure you use bright white cloth. muslin is often times warm. you can either use white tissue (be careful of heat), white cotton fabric or diffusion paper. diffusion paper is standard in professional photography, but it's harder to find. plus tissue paper and white cotton fabric give the same fantastic results.

Re: Picture help!

Im using a standard point and shoot cannon.

Should I maybe nix the muslin and use tissue instead?

Also in my pictures for my newer posted items I figured out how to change the white balance on my camera to daylight.

Thanks again for the help =]
