Etsy Image Sizing

How should I size images?

On Etsy, the page designs expect images to be a particular size. When uploaded images aren't the expected size, we resize them so they will fit in with the rest of the site. Whenever an image is resized, some of the visual quality is lost. We try to restore the quality after resizing, but there isn't a correction that is ideal for every single image. We use a general correction that works for most images, but it may cause some images to not look as good on the site as you expect. You can avoid the resizing and the correction by uploading images that are already the expected size for the particular type of image.

Here are the expected sizes for each image type (in pixels):

Avatars: 75x75

Shop Banners: 760x100

Team Logo: 170x100

Listing Images: 570 pixels wide

Re: Etsy Image Sizing

update.

the dimensions of pictures in your shop and in treasuries (first number is the pixels of the width -

shop gallery view: 170 width x 135 height pixels

shop thumbnail view: 75 x 75 pixels

shop item listing view: 570 pixels - with the with the alternate views thumbnails (60 x 60)

the same dimensions apply to treasuries.

Re: Etsy Image Sizing

I've never paid any attention to my pixels. On my father in law's computer all of my pictures look squat and stretched out a little. Is this why?

Re: Etsy Image Sizing

i think that might be due to the screen resolution/sizing of his monitor settings. you should adjust it. it's usually at the bottom front of the monitor or you can adjust it or do it through windows. right click and choose settings and then follow from there. :)

Re: Etsy Image Sizing

I am hoping to start understanding about pixals! When I have cropped a photo to remove maybe something that detracts from my intended shot, I never how if it will look good when printed in different sizes.

Re: Etsy Image Sizing

I didn't resize any of my listing photos before I added them. I thought Etsy resized them if they were too large, but they seem huge to me. I tried resizing, but they still seem giant. You have to scroll down a lot before you can even see the item, and then more before you can see any description. Am I completely crazy or is there a way to fix?

Thank you!

Re: Etsy Image Sizing

So the shop gallery view of an item has a rectangular shaped image but the individual listing page's image is square? I always crop all my photos to a square while editing, then after I upload it to a new listing I will simply reposition the photo to be sure the product is centered correctly. Would it be a better idea for me to start cropping my photos to the 170 x 135 size during editing so that it correlates with the gallery view that is most often seen? And if so, would this distort the image once a shopper clicks the link to open the listing page?

Thanks in advance for your input!
