REsizing antique/vintage patterns or your own design/patterns

I always get this same question: how do i resize vintage patterns. Honestly I learned how to add extra or deduct by using my calculator with the given measurements to the pattern pieces. Or if I need to add to my own patterns that I create I simply just add to the sides or pieces of my patterns. This is one of the links I have referred everyone to but feel free to ask me which method I use..

Re: REsizing antique/vintage patterns or your own design/patterns

I've always found that the bust/waist ratios are the most challenging with vintage patterns, even up to the 1980s. Usually the bust is fine and matches up with the other measurements, but the waists are too small for most of our figures that try to be, but can't quite muster, hourglass with teeny waists! To remedy, I usually go with the largest measurement and adjust the rest down. To enlarge a bust I trace a pattern piece on brown paper, then quarter it below the armhole and in the middle. Then tilt the top two pieces out on the bottoms and reverse for the bottom two pieces until a sort of cross forms in the empty space between the four pieces.
