Re: Help

Amie Karney, Pinterest is a good and easy way to help your shop along. Also Facebook and whatever other social media you happen to do. Regularly advertising your products in etsy teams will help you in getting views. Sales don't always come right away, so it's really a waiting game, but don't just leave your shop hanging. Staying active gives you more views, and those views eventually turn into sales. I've done paid advertising before. It help's some, but not a whole lot. If you think paid advertising is worth it than you can go ahead with it.

Re: Help

Plus, try taking more than one picture of your products. I think that'll help you.

Re: Help

Hey Mady, since facebook didn't work for you, try posting your products in the advertising threads in etsy teams. That's helped me get more views. There are lots of other was to get sales, but first, remember. There is no secret to getting a stream of sales. It really takes patience and perseverance. It can get super depressing at times, but just wait and see. Advertising outside of etsy helps too, and it's a little more encouraging than posting and waiting online.

Re: Help

Sorry, I honestly can't find the numbers you're trying to find. Are they in the listing description? At the top of the page? In a box near the listing suggestions? Where are they?

Re: Help

I have no idea, that is what I am trying to find out. Let's do it an other way. When you list a new item here, what do you do exactly?
I see all these URLs from all who post and it says listing / and a whole bunch of numbers.

Re: Help

Hmm . . . It may be the device you work on. Do you ever use a computer or laptop? On either of those, you have to copy and paste a link in a reply. I've never worked on my shop through a tablet, so I'm guessing that's the reason for the numbers. I don't think you'd be able to get them by using a tablet.

Re: Help

Hi all, I've seen some questions about social media and promoting our shops, and I wanted to share some things I've learned lately about that! I've seen pinterest and paid facebook ads have been mentioned. What I have found to be the most effective is actually Instagram. Unlike Facebook, Instagram actually allows you to use specific tags to drive new people to your profile. By using common hashtags when I post, and by following people with accounts similar to mine, I've gotten almost 100 new followers since the beginning of 2018!

So what thoughts do all of you have? Have any of you tried using Instagram to promote your business?

Re: Help

I am very new to Etsy, but I feel that Instagram was extremely helpful! I had only one listing at the very beginning, in two different colors, and I didn't sell them both until I got an Instagram for my shop. I'm not really into social media, and before I got an instagram I only had pininterest. I was getting visits and views but no sales. I think the power of the hashtag (#) should never be underestimated. Once I had finally figured out why people typed "#"in front of everything on Instagram, that's when I made the sales. Use "#" liberally in front of your descriptions for your product!!! That's how you sell and even start getting people following you. Plus you get connected to Knitters/crocheters around the world. There are more of us!!! LoL I have also noticed whenever I post, even if it's just behind the scenes\process photos , there are more visit, views, and followers.

Re: Help

Hi! Was wondering if anyone could give me advice? I was wondering what is more important when it comes to crocheting physical items for sale. Having different styles or quantity of specific ones? I wanted to know which looks more professional. Will people buy more if there is more than 1 in quantity for a specific listing or just having a variety of styles , but not have a lot in quantity. I got to pick one or the other and I'm not sure which would be the best route. It takes me a while to crochet my gloves especially now that I'm a mommy 😊

Re: Help

Hi Stemphanie, to be honest, I don't really know which sells better. I'm pretty sure that how you sell it is more important than what it is. If you take attractive pictures of your products and stay active on etsy, the sales should come eventually.
