Advice?

Hi, I am very new to the Etsy thing. I have been live on here for a few weeks and have had plenty of views but not a lot of sales. Started using Search ads last week and increased it this week.

Could anyone give me some words of wisdom or helpful hints? Maybe look at my store and let me know what I can do to improve it?

Thanks! Glad to be "in touch" with others!

Have a blessed day!
Janice

Re: Advice?

Hi Janice.Welcome to Etsy!

The first thing I would do is send out a newsletter to your current customers to let them know that your work is going to be available online. It was one of the best things that I did for the business as many people had been asking about being able to buy online for a while.

Even if you are a football fan (and many of us are), please be sure that you have permission to trade on school and NFL team names. Unless you have explicit permission from the schools to use their names on your work, you are using a name that you don't have the rights to and that is against the laws.

You can mention the colours but not the team names. For example, I carry the new "Team Spirit' yarns but I only mention the colours available and never the team names.

If you are selling 'made to order' items you may want to mention that in both your title and in the beginning of your listing as well as the time it takes before the item is shipped.

You may find that having 'ready to ship' items will be more beneficial in the long run though as people don't want to wait.

For your photos, I'd suggest that you try to brighten them up a little bit. Use natural light and a good reflective background so that the item being sold really pops. Show photos from all angles as the camera is the 'eyes' for the buyer.

If you are offering custom colours, you may want to use one photo slot to show the colours that you have available.

Remember that it takes time for people to find your shop. Etsy provides you with the store front but its up to you to do your own marketing to bring in the buyers.

You may find the 'critique your own shop' blog post to be helpful as well.
