July/August What Does This Item Need?

Post one item from your shop and then comment on the post that is above you. What does that item need? Do you have a question about it that isn't answered in the description? Are the tags good? Does it need better pictures? A picture of the scale?

Re: July/August What Does This Item Need?

Hi there Erin,
BTW let me know if I'm not posting correctly please. I read the directions, I'm just really green...
I looked at your post :) The photos look very nice, the design is lovely, and your spec are very thorough. It's also very apparent that it was made with love, always a good selling point I believe. My only advice is simply preferencial. It reads a bit on the technical side. I used to have a lovely set of runes made from amethyst with gold symbols, so I have a tiny bit of history there, but most people, myself included, who are into runes are mystical lovers of the ethereal. Maybe try give more background on origin and ancient use for people who don't know. And start with the pretty descriptive items putting the specs at the end so it's more poetic, like a story. Please let me know what you think, and good luck!!

Re: July/August What Does This Item Need?

Thank you very much, Lauryn! (I also hope I'm doing this right... haha) I'm VERY new to Etsy as a store owner, so I definitely appreciate any feedback. Your advice sounds great! I really wasn't sure what was appropriate to put in my item descriptions and what would seem superfluous, so I stuck with the basics on pretty many of them. I'll be going back through my listings soon and adding a more personal touch to each of their descriptions, as well as a little more rune-knowledge for those who are just getting into it.
I checked out your listing and what I would like to see from it would be a photograph of a finished product showing the different gem options. Your photographs of the one style are very nicely composed and clearly show off your item in multiple angles, which is always a plus in my eyes. Your description is great, your tags all seem very appropriate, and your title gives me plenty of information without being too overwhelming. Its just a personal preference for me that if an item has multiple color options, I like to see a complete version of each option, or to see the item modeled with different outfits to showcase its versatility.

I hope that helps! And thank you again for your input!! <3

Re: July/August What Does This Item Need?

Lauryn, I love your listing! It is stunning. The only thing I see that you could maybe add is how you are going to ship it so it doesn't tangle and also how you would suggest storing it so it doesn't tangle. Other than that, I think you have a great description!

Here is my item I need some help with -

Re: July/August What Does This Item Need?

Miss Evergreen,

I'm guessing that your Dark Fairy Hair Barrette is very interesting and pretty, but I can only guess because the photos don't show it too well. I think you need a couple of crisp, clear close-ups from different angles that capture the details and the color. It's good to show it being worn, but there isn't enough contrast to see it clearly.

Also, since your model is wearing fairy wings, you should probably clarify that the wings are NOT part of the sale.

It also wouldn't hurt to wax a bit fanciful in the description.

You used all the tags but you could get more detailed for the materials. Silk leaves, black ribbon, feather, tulle, etc.

Hope this helps!

So now, what do you think this one needs?

Re: July/August What Does This Item Need?

Hi Sandy!

Love those earrings- very unique and exquisite. :)

The first thing I noticed is that the main photo is only showing one earring, so without reading the title I was mislead to thinking this listing is for one earring only.
Maybe if you got an earring stand, like this one: https://www.etsy.com/listing/106521822/159-earring-stand-8cm-wide-125cm-height?ref=sr_gallery_10&ga_... it would make it easier for the buyer to understand what you are selling. Just my opinion. :)

Great description and title!

The tags are also good, but I would recommend adding "homemade jewelry" to the list. I know that keyword seems a bit odd, but that is searched at least 3 times a day, in my shop.

Hope that helps and Happy Selling! :)

Re: July/August What Does This Item Need?

Hi Edison GAO,

You have used lovely descriptive words in your description - wave edge, elegant, elaborate, "I put my heart into every stitch", the words all make me want to see this beautiful veil close up, I want to feel as if I could touch it with my fingers, but unfortunately, I only have this one picture to look at. And although its not a bad photograph - its a good angle for the buyer to get an idea of the size and the overall weight of the veil, I really feel that you need to get some macro shots - or close ups of your needlework that do those words justice! :)

Also, there is once sentence that I didn't quite understand, "1.The piece comes with beautiful decorative box randomly to keep it protected as pictured." its the word "randomly" that I don't understand in the context of the sentence, as well as you have said "keep it protected as pictured", I'm not sure what that means, as it is not protected in the picture.

Sorry to be so wordy - just add more pictures! :D

Ok, here's mine - I am playing with a new backdrop trying to get these new white racks to show up... put your sunglasses on, sorry for all those not used to my overdosing everyone with primary colors :D
