How to create SVG cut files...

Hello!
I am new to Cricut but I am really trying to figure something out and any help would be greatly appreciated.
I am wanting to know what program is good to use to make my own layered cut files? I work in Photoshop for my Etsy shop and am familiar with it, but you can't save files as SVG. I have used it to save and upload each layer individually but that takes forever. I was wondering if there is an easier option that I can create the image as layers, and just upload it to Cricut, having everything there with just one file upload.
Any advice or suggestions?
Thank you very much!
Jamie

Inkscape is a free program that will create SVG files that can be uploaded. I can't say it's all that intuitive as I'm used to working in AutoCAD but maybe it will be coming from Photoshop. Good luck!

+1 for Inkscape. I use Inkscape as well for making svg files. I think the barebones basic features are fairly user friendly. And for anything you can't find there are lots of posts online on how to do stuff.
