What should I put in my Etsy 'download'?

Hi All! I am setting up my new shop and getting my files sorted on Craft Hub...

I've finally finished listing my first item, but it looks like I can't complete my listing until I have added a file to the Etsy listing???

Is there a way to circumvent this? If I can't... What sort of thing should I upload as my file? Some sort of .jpg image that says "your downloads will come from crafthub"? Will my customers get an email from Etsy with downloads (which I am not sending via etsy) AND from crafthub (where the actual downloads will be)? I can see this becoming a bit confusing.

I am stumped about this. ;) Please help!

Re: What should I put in my Etsy 'download'?

No one has suggestions for this?

If I want to list my items as 'Digital Files' Etsy is making me add an item for the customer to download... even though I am not using Etsy to deliver my digital items, I am using CraftHub.

Does everyone list their items as Physical Items? Does it cause buyers to be confused?

Re: What should I put in my Etsy 'download'?

Hi Brook
I'm new to etsy and crafthub as well and was wondering about the same issue's as you.. I have put a zip with the photos i used from etsy up
- But I think I will change it to a zip file containing a doc with instructions about how the download link to the files will be send to there etsy registred email after purchase has gone through..just putting a jpg would look to little for a purchase I think- because it shows under the itemdesrciption..

But I would like to hear other suggestions as well :)

Re: What should I put in my Etsy 'download'?

Thanks so much for the help, Louise! I am still not sure of what to do... I would hope that Etsy can see this is a potential problem and might make it optional to have to include a download in a digital listing.

In the meantime, I have only listed small items in my shop that I can deliver via Etsy... at least until I can figure out how to handle listing my larger items in a way that is not confusing for the buyer. I don't want them to think the email from Etsy is 'THE' email where they expect to receive their downloads.

In order to mark an item as digital on Etsy, you must upload a file to go with it.

I have found that it's easiest to direct your customers to your login page. Your page would be: http://brookmageedesigns.crafthub.me/login.php

Re: What should I put in my Etsy 'download'?

Hi Brook

I'm trying to do the same thing and am wondering what you did in the end to list a digital item that is actually delivered by CraftHub. CraftHub seems to require an existing listing on Etsy to link to.

Any light you can shed would be great!

I'm new as well, but what I did was upload PDF instructions on how to use my digital files.
