Knowing how many views you need to make a sale can really help you to understand your business better and what is required by way of marketing.

For example, if you know that you need 30 views to make 1 sale, this is a high conversion rate and means that you don't need a whole load of traffic to achieve sales. It also means that you clearly have a product people want or need.

If on the other hand, you need 500 views to make 1 sale, this is a low conversion rate. This could mean that there are issues with your shop that need addressing like photography, pricing etc., that you are not selling something people want or need or simply that you have a high end market product.

Knowing this conversion rate can really help you and this is why I am offering to give you this for free. If you want to know what your conversion rate is, just post here and I will let you know in this thread.

Figures will be based on the entire duration your shop has been open.

@AuntMaymesAttic - My stats show that your total listings views are 5799 divided by 143 sales. I'm not sure why you say only 30 sales. When I say 'total' this means the whole time your store has been open.

@littledebskis 1 to 8 - This is an extremely high conversion but there's an issue with your traffic, you have very low views.

Hi Eureka,

I'm not sure what I am doing wrong to get views into my shop. I have changed my titles, tags, I have even gone into search to see what people are using. I find it extremely difficult to find my own listings in etsy search. I have had more views in the past, but every time there is a change made on etsy my views drop. Some say one has nothing to do with the other. Not sure about that. Any suggestions??

Taking views / sales over a more limited time range, ordered sequentially, one can observe how one's ratio is improving. The total number is ok but does not address what changes over time. For example, my total for all time is 1:333 but for 2015 it was 1:76. So something is working better than before.

If you look at your stats for different time ranges like the holiday season, or whatever your space's peak sales times are, maybe additional insight can be found like that too.

@LaurieRobertsJewelry If you take a total and then again 6 months later, you will see a change and this will give an idea of whether a store is doing better or not. We are not able to give conversion rates over specific periods as we are not able to get those stats.

Your figures of 1 to 33 and 1 to 76 actually show that your shop is doing worse, not better. If you needed 33 views to achieve a sale, but in 2015 you needed 76 views, things are not necessarily working better. This figure could be because you're getting much more traffic and are in fact achieving more sales in which case it would be better.
