Views to Sales Conversion - Want to know yours?

Knowing how many views you need to make a sale can really help you to understand your business better and what is required by way of marketing.

For example, if you know that you need 30 views to make 1 sale, this is a high conversion rate and means that you don't need a whole load of traffic to achieve sales. It also means that you clearly have a product people want or need.

If on the other hand, you need 500 views to make 1 sale, this is a low conversion rate. This could mean that there are issues with your shop that need addressing like photography, pricing etc., that you are not selling something people want or need or simply that you have a high end market product.

Knowing this conversion rate can really help you and this is why I am offering to give you this for free. If you want to know what your conversion rate is, just post here and I will let you know in this thread.

Figures will be based on the entire duration your shop has been open.

I'd love to know my conversion rate, but unless it'd been "fixed," I guess that it won't be accurate. I have 144 paintings in my shop.

@BarbaraRosenzweig 1 to 550 - I don't know what you mean by 'it'd been fixed'. Your conversion rate will be pretty accurate although different stat programs may process them slightly differently. If you want to work it yourself, you can, just divide total listings views by your total sales.

@SofiandFriends 1 to 25 - Knowing your conversion rate helps sellers to understand how many views they need to make a sale. It will show you if your marketing is being directed at the right audience. Please check the top of this thread for more information.

@ZzzonkOwl 1 to 58 - I am not able to do specific periods but it makes no difference. Sales to views conversions are worked out on total listings views. If you had no listings, you will not have had listings views.

Slightly related subject (didn't know where else to ask): I have been getting quite a few views from Craftori lately, for which I thank you, but these are only showing as such in my Etsy stats. They don't seem to show up at all in my GA. Would there be a simple explanation for this phenomenon?

@bluetina 1 to 700 - I've not heard of that issue. That does seem strange. We don't use Google Analytics but we've heard that it can be unreliable. It doesn't make sense that it would not show as a referrer when it does on your Etsy stats. It's a bit of a mystery. If we can find out anything, we'll let you know.

@BBeadazzled 1 to 32 - I make it better than your calculation. Not all stats programs count things in the same way so there can be discrepancies. In any event, this is a very good conversion rate.
