Knowing how many views you need to make a sale can really help you to understand your business better and what is required by way of marketing.

For example, if you know that you need 30 views to make 1 sale, this is a high conversion rate and means that you don't need a whole load of traffic to achieve sales. It also means that you clearly have a product people want or need.

If on the other hand, you need 500 views to make 1 sale, this is a low conversion rate. This could mean that there are issues with your shop that need addressing like photography, pricing etc., that you are not selling something people want or need or simply that you have a high end market product.

Knowing this conversion rate can really help you and this is why I am offering to give you this for free. If you want to know what your conversion rate is, just post here and I will let you know in this thread.

Figures will be based on the entire duration your shop has been open.

Also since this is based on the date you signed up what about if you haven't had your shop selling for that length of time?
Don't mean to be a pest, but would really like to know if I'm on the right track or just spinning my wheels...vroom..vroom!

@Kathy, you need to divide your total views with your total sales. 1 to 52 is a very low conversion rate so this is very good. If you're getting custom orders, then this counts as a sale so it's the same thing.

Since the figure is based on listings views, it doesn't matter if you signed up before because if you had no listings for a while, then there will not have been listings views. :-)

@Pamela - pleasure.

Hi There.
I'd love to know my conversion rate.
As my shop is 2 months old and I've only had 1 sale from 1732 views I'm guessing my rate is ridiculouly high.
If you could give me some pointers I'd be grateful.
Thank you!
Amanda

@AmandaJaneDalby Yes, your conversion rate would be 1 to 1732 - you should be renewing your listings a lot more. They will have slipped down the relevancy list by now.

I'm getting really low views - so guessing my conversion rate is terrible too. I would love to know what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks in grateful anticipation!

@JulietJewelryDesign 1 to 501

@LisaDeluxe 1 to 94 - low views has nothing to do with sales conversion rate, this is a very good rate. People can have lots of traffic but still not sell. The issue is that you must get more traffic to make more sales since people will buy your items.

@SassyPlanetBoutique 1 to 5

I would LOVE to know this! I used the Inventory Planning Guide Etsy sent out last week, and I was super excited at fist I've increased my views x3, but sales have remained the same almost non-existent number. This info would be so helpful, as I'm pretty lost right now :( Thanks!

@NaughteeBits 1 to 173 - Getting more traffic does not necessarily mean getting more sales. You need to know your target market and understand where you should be promoting.

@NaughteeBits, well it's women, that's a given. From your sales, can you know what age group? That will narrow it down again. Your USP is a bit confused, you say 'bohemian' but then also 'rock & roll', those two are very different. If you sell both, then you need to find those types of women. Obviously also the burlesque market. You're on Twitter so find people with those words in their bio, then also follow their followers, that way you'll get into the right target market.
