Knowing how many views you need to make a sale can really help you to understand your business better and what is required by way of marketing.

For example, if you know that you need 30 views to make 1 sale, this is a high conversion rate and means that you don't need a whole load of traffic to achieve sales. It also means that you clearly have a product people want or need.

If on the other hand, you need 500 views to make 1 sale, this is a low conversion rate. This could mean that there are issues with your shop that need addressing like photography, pricing etc., that you are not selling something people want or need or simply that you have a high end market product.

Knowing this conversion rate can really help you and this is why I am offering to give you this for free. If you want to know what your conversion rate is, just post here and I will let you know in this thread.

Figures will be based on the entire duration your shop has been open.

Yes, I'd like to know. I had a sale of 3 images and have been open a little over 2 weeks. I noticed that my buyer was someone who favorited these items when I first listed them. I don't know if there is any correlation?

@SharetheLoveVintage, that's a fairly high conversion rate which is good. If it was too low, you would have much higher views in order to achieve a sale.

Without a full shop critique it's hard to know exactly what the problem is. What I can see is that your listings are not set up correctly regarding keywords. You would benefit from Eureka's Tagging Guide which explains exactly where they should appear.

Hi Cathy, thanks for the explanation... I see that the tagging guide you offer is only for Etsy and I will check it out, however, I'm more concerned with google. I get just a few google searches every day. Like yesterday, which was a really slow day for December I got 129 searches, 7 of which were from google, 4 from product listing, 3 from google.com or .ca. this is a pretty typical ratio for my shop, will this tagging tutorial help with that?

@SharetheLoveVintage, the same applies to listings anywhere online. The point is that search engines must see the same keywords several times when they're referencing in order to give it precedence. If you apply this rule, you'll get better search engine results. Etsy's search function works on the same principle but they also favor recency which is why it is important to renew regularly to stay at the top of the list.

So is that good or what? I feel like in my shop feralspassagegifts it had taken me 6yrs to reach 200 sales, it feels like sometimes maybe i make what people don't want. Although i get rave feedback when they actually see it in person. It gets frustrating.

@Allene, That is an extremely low conversion rate so that's great. If you don't feel like you're making enough sales, than this is because you are not promoting enough or to the right audience. If you only need 48 views to make a sale, then this store has much more potential.

If you get good reviews when people see the items for real, then it could have something to do with your imagery. I would simplify the backgrounds, this is what professional product photographers do. Saying that, your conversion rate is still excellent so there is not much wrong with the way your store is set up.
