FINE ART AND REPRODUCTION PRINTS
A Fine Art Print is an image created by an artist from a plate, stone, block, ie lithographs, stencils, etchings etc. Prints are numbered and signed in pencil by the artist beneath the image, after the edition is printed.
A Reproduction Print is a copy of an original painting, drawing, etc. The original work is photographed and reproduced by a printing process. Giclee prints are reproduction prints.
Limited Edition runs may apply to both Reproduction Prints and Fine Art Prints.
This is also generic information but is relevant to our site since there is much confusion on this subject and prints are often referred to as 'fine art' when in fact they are reproduction.
