I've just tried out the 'Upload to Paid Categories' for the first time today. The thing I struggle with, having only been doing this for a year, is managing a budget to spend on advertising. It's a Catch-22 situation at the beginning where you need to advertise to get the money coming in, but you need the money to pay for advertising. Thank goodness for all the opportunities for free exposure to get the ball rolling (thanks Craftori!).

Is there a formula for working out advertising budget from your total revenue?

I have been gradually uploading some of my items to Craftori and am puzzled about how they are categorized since there are only two broad category choices available in the upload. When searching there is a OOAK category but that isn't a choice when loading. All of my work is OOAK but none of it shows up there. Do you have to list the categories that you want items to show up in as tags? If so, it would be really nice to be able to go back and edit the tags.

@Leslie, Shoppers would find it too difficult to search for items that were categorized only as 'ooak'. Moreover, a lot of shoppers would not even know what that abbreviation meant. It is a term mostly used by Sellers online, not by shoppers.

There is no ooak category as you state. What you clicked on was the tag cloud which contains the term 'ooak'. The tag cloud shows the most used tags at that time and this changes all the time. These are not categories.

Shoppers do use the search function when looking for specific items so ensure that you use the correct keywords in your titles, descriptions and tags so that they show up.

You need to categorize your items under the category they best fit. If it is a kitchen dish, then this could go in art, ceramics or in home decor, housewares.

In Craftori, when I click on gift guides there are a number of categories, including one of a kind. Are those the paid ads? Is that why my one of a kind items don't show up there? Sorry my question was unclear.

@Leslie, sorry, yes, I forgot about the gift guide section, I thought you were talking about the free categories. Also, we don't call it ooak, and that's why I didn't think of it. Gift guides are payable. If you have submitted to the free categories, there is no one of a kind category.

I must tell you how much I like the look of the site, and the "tone" of the team. Very, very refreshing! Delighted to be here...

I have a question, if you will. I just posted a set of four Lindt Stymeist vintage thumb mugs to the front page. When you post to the front page, does the item show up in the free categories as well, automatically, as in this case, vintage?

@Karen, Hi and welcome. Thanks too for purchasing a front page spot, it's much appreciated. Items to all paid sections also get included in their respective categories. When they expire from the paid section, they then automatically go into the free categories. :-)

Testing the page today. The random idea is quite awesome.

However, the site is not really well navigated. It would be much better if the search box and categories are more visible. Hiding the categories in a drop list and the search box deep under will keep people from using them.

Just my opinion. Overall, the site is wonderful. Thank you for bringing all of us such a helpful tools to get more views and sales .

I have put up about a dozen listings but don't find that I getting views from the Craftori website like I am from the Craftori Handmade Pinterest site. It definite results in Etsy shop views.
