@Anau, you really are making me feel exhausted just reading your posts! lol
@Cat, I have a heel problem but no one seems to know why. I have permanent pain in my feet and have used special insoles that were made for me but after 1 year of wearing them, there's been no difference. Funnily enough, I'm better when I wear a heel.
I went shopping yesterday and bought myself a fabulous handbag. Well, what else can a girl do to cheer herself up at the end of the winter? ;-)
Insoles were no use to me either. It just means that you can't wear nice shoes because of the clunky insole. I love shopping. I'm going to London next month so I'll hold back until then. Hopefully the weather should be better and that will get me in the mood for summer.
Eureka- haha retail therapy? I wonder what the pain is from in your heel? I need to buy myself a fabulous handbag, I am using one I "stole" from my mums junk in her attic! haha She didn't mind :)
Cat- Hey Cat how are you today? I must say London has the best shopping. I was there in 2007 and I LOVED the shops, the styles are so chick but my bank account was so not chick! LOL Oh my you are going to have a ball!
It's supposed to be a cultural visit. We're visiting the David Hockney exhibition at the Royal Academy and Damien Hirst's retrospective. The good thing about London is that the shops are open so late. There's always time to spend the money I haven't got!
I love that the shops are open so late! In NZ that is one annyoing thing, the shops close early and there is too much of everything that is the same. Did that make any sense?? LOL WHat is the David Hockney exb.? I went to the Banksy exb. when I was there, pretty cool.
David Hockney is an English artist. The exhibition is a collection of his new landscapes. Although I live quite near shops buying a handbag is a rare treat for me too. Sometimes you just need to pamper yourself!
Gosh, just discovered this thread. Nice to "meet" some more etsians. Quick bio: retired film publicist now focused on my shop. Trying to make my hobby pay its own way as I can't stop making the stuff and can only wear so much myself. Hubby and I live on a floating home on the Fraser River near Vancouver, Canada. Two kids - grown - one grandson - almost grown. SIGH. I swear he was five just last year. Gardening is limited to pots but have had some luck with tomatos on the roof deck. Weather here pretty similar to England, I think. March is being March i.e. "variable." And I would pretty much kill to get back to London, preferably with a nice lottery win in my bag. Done my morning walk (no rain today *grins* but still have to do some exercises. My feet hold up but I seem prone to leg cramps. Bothersome but stretching helps. Now that you are thoroughly bored, I'll stop.
The weather here is 'variable' too so have taken to dancing round the lounge just to get me out of this computer chair. Thankfully I live alone so no one here to witness my antics :)
Hi Dix!!! I'm loving this thread. I've been seeing your creations for so long and now I can have 'story' attached to them everything I approve them on etsylush.
Wow! A floating home, how cool is that! I would love to live near or on the water. Right now I am the furthest away from the sea possible although we do have a few lakes nearby. It's not the same as living by the water and I miss that.
I lived in Cornwall too, went to school there so I keep threatening to visit gringrimaceandsqueak one day! (although I think I'll have the hurry ;-)
Does anyone know where I can get some really good value for money floathing frames from online? They need to ship to France.
Eureka- Where do you live? I live in PA the rural area, and it is about 40mins to dirve somewhere decent to buy a nice handbag.
Cat- that is real cool. I like landscape art, but I like street art that is more my thing. I am a self taught artist, and I belong to a graffiti crew in NZ :) We have an exhibition coming up in May! SO am nervous but excited about that.
Dixie- Hey Dixie welcome! How are you? Did you use to critique films or publish or both? That is real interesting. Wow I want to live on a floating house too, so much fun! haha Talk as much as you want you are allowed too! I talk way too much too, I think people don't mind? LOL haha
Karen- Hey Karen what are you up to today? Are you dancing to zumba around the house? haha Dont worry I do that all the time, I even drop it low and pretend that I am in a video clip, my son just stares....... LOL LOL
Hope everyones day is going well. Sold two cards from my shop today so off to wrap and post that. Phew, isn't good when you get a sale. What is every-ones goals for their shops this month? :)
Would love to know of a real good place to get floating frames from. I have an exhibition this summer and no longer have time to make my own frames. I need to make a whole new collection.
*wave* Want to take a sec to introduce myself. I am Dawn, a SAHM to two munchkins. In my former life I got a degree in engineering but started off studying architecture and art. :) Started up a shop here not too long ago and am still working my way through the bumps. Food and chocolate are my first love however and I still find ways to work that into my life too! If anyone has questions for me, or needs something, or has ideas for discussions in the forum, don't hesitate to message me. Oh yeah, I am in IL (so CST)... right now is lunchtime for me. I am typically on very early morning or late evening. Thanks!
Eureka- Oh awesome, would love to visit France some time. What kind of exhibition have you got coming up? Sorry I do not know where you can get floating frames from.
Dawn- Hi!! I am a stay at home mum to a one year old turing two at the end of this month. He keeps me on my feet that is for sure!! Now that I have him down for a nap I can get some stuff done! :) I am also a lover of food and dark choclate. I just made some fudge brownie today, but I over cooked it and my husband asked me why they are so hard like concrete hahaha LOL.
I will introduce myself too. I am Tongan it is in the South Pacific, grew up in NZ and now living in PA USA for the next year :) I love art, travelling, my family and people watching :)
My munchkins are 8 and 5. My youngest will start kindergarten next year - looking forward to a tad bit more time to get things done.
Seriously, me and food have issues. LOL. At first I looked into starting a chocolate shop, but local rules and regulations made it impossible w/o me taking out a full business loan. *sigh* Now I do it for fun - for school events, gift baskets, holidays, etc. My favorite thing to make is fudge! Every time I make I adjust all my cook times and ingredients a little to make it perfect. Heehee I also love to make chocolate creams but don't have as much time to play with them.
Talking about food Dawn I am going to go make some dinner, tofu stir fry anyone? :) That is a good age gap that you have for your little ones. I am thinking I am going to have my second one in the year 2015. You must be good at makign fudge, too bad mine are not that great! haha You have a real awesome shop by the way!
Thanks Anau! Not doing "tons" of sales yet but as my hubby says "At least I have found something I enjoy doing" :)
Seriously, I have an odd passion for food. I always say that if I could do school over again, I would look at becoming a chef. We have quite the garden here in our yard and I love to can as much as I can. We get the whole family involved in the growing and cooking as much as possible. My little one wants to be a pastry chef when she is older. ROFL
Yes Dix, am in Cornwall- have lived in Liskeard , Carnkie, Pendeen and now Camelford- having done the tour am moving up to north yorkshire in a couple of weeks :)
As for dancing, I'm amusing myself by finding increasingly inappropriate dance styles for when I go to Whitby Goth Weeekend - i might not be the first person to foxtrot round the spa but might be the first to do it in full goth battle dress, lol ! Last week was sixties go-go dancing which is remarkably difficult to do as I found out :)
That sounds like fun Karen! I'd love to see it. I'm getting in supplies today for the big rugby match tomorrow. It's a really important game between Wales and Italy. So big that nobody is talking about it for fear of jinxing it. Anau should know how important rugby is to us even if you're not a sports fan.
Haha! grin, I can always rely on you to conjur up strange images in my head! lol
BeadsbyDawn, have you thought of selling some food things here on Etsy? There are quite a lot of quite successful sellers doing that on Etsy. Cookies, jams, chocolates, fudge etc.
My munchkins grew too quickly, now 21 and 23, one at uni in the UK and one doing a doctorate here in France. Where does the time go...
