I know this has been discussed before but I'd like to know what you think of each.
The only difference I know of is square is charging 2.75% and intuit is 1.75%
What do you use and what do you think of it ?
it's not a bad idea Amanda. I remember 4 years ago I had my laptop (this is before Square came out) for buyers that were interested in paying by credit card/paypal. Many buyers were skeptical of me keeping their credit card number on my computer. I think I only had one paypal sale for that show.
For some reason people feel safer with Square/Intuit? Maybe because it's an app? or maybe that it's 4 years later, and people are more comfortable with these apps?
Love my square! Very, very happy with it. If I happen to get into a place where there is no signal I can manually input the sale later. Customers don't seem to mind. Square all the way.
I have Square, Intuit and Paypal! And I have the old fashioned knucklebuster. That came in handy last year when another vendor discovered that her iPad didn't charge overnight and she had no way of processing credit cards at a show. And I had a show last fall where we were promised free wifi and never got it and since it was in a metal gym, the 3g wasn't working either. Vendors were all lined up at the one door holding phones outside to get a signal. I love that Square puts the money in my account automatically and they take their fees out before the deposit. Intuit transferred the whole amount and then a week later withdrew money from my checking account for their fees. I didn't like that!
I started using my square this fall at my first show. It has worked pretty well at a variety of locations until my last show in February, which was on the outskirts of town in a mammoth building. Service was sporadic, to say the least and my battery was drained dry twice. Luckily, I was close to a wall outlet, so I could plug in my phone and I was close to an outside exit door, so I just started walking over there before I swiped the card (my check-out area, lol).
I may look into Intuit; I didn't realize you could process offline.
I was also thinking of taking my Ipad and my brother's hotspot to my next show to use with Square. Has anyone used the Ipad app? Is it better than the phone app?
