What software do you use?

I was hoping for some suggestions on software for tracking sales, inventory, bookkeeping etc. Any suggestions?

Re: What software do you use?

I use Quickbooks and try to post once a week. I use carbon receipts at shows and Quickbooks receipts for clients who purchase directly from me. Not my favorite software, but my accountant loves it, so it cuts down on my end of year tax expenses if I'm compatible with her.

Have you looked at using a basic Excel Spreadsheet?

Re: What software do you use?

I had been using Excel but just last week transferred everything to a Quicken file. My spreadsheet was getting too big and we've been using Quicken Home 2004 for my husband's business as well as our personal accounts. It's easy to make entries and you can personalize the categories to keep track of EVERYTHING!

I've got a bookkeeping background so I tend to make myself crazy keeping track of every penny. We've considered Quickbooks (which I've used at work) but can't justify the expense since the regular Quicken seems to be working fine so far since we don't have to deal with payroll, etc.

And your accountant will love you for it!

Re: What software do you use?

I created an Excel spreadsheet years ago and it's still working for me. I do one year per file. That way it doesnt get huge. If I was ever so inclined, I could create a chart for all of the years together. I've had to add columns over the years as my products changed, but I still like it. I used Quicken Home and Business for a while. It was ok but my spreadsheet was quick and easy, and I created formulas for each line of the Schedule C which makes it simple to do taxes.

Re: What software do you use?

I use a Google/Android App called Balance Book which I LOVE!

I use it in conjunction with my Square - It allows me to enter my sales, but also my expenses, which is really handy for a supply addict like myself.

It also has a handy item pricing calculator so I can quickly figure what my costs per item should be in order to make a profit. I also use the charts and graphics, but mostly it's a very quick reference to profit/loss so I can see my bottom line every time I open the app.
I fully anticipate it's greatest value will present itself at tax time.

*Neither it nor I do inventory. (Since I only do one at a time or micro batches there's no real point)
