Summer Time Craft Fairs- What sells best?

So, a few years ago I did two summer time craft fairs. They were a horrible bust! (they were way unattended and I didn't have a great table setup).

But I was wondering if all summer craft shows are not well attended? And what sells best at them? I sew and knit, so I can easily bring my sewn items to them if that would sell better.

I'm just curious cause I'm going on Saturday to a fairly large farmers market on Saturday and it got me thinking. . .

Ive done 2 as well and they were a complete bust, but it was also a cruddy day the one outdoor show and could have been better.

I think going to larger more established summer shows might be more successful.

As for what selld, idk I dont have much experience yet. good luck and have fuN!

I don't take the knits to summer market .. although there is a yarn lady that takes orders for hats etc... doll clothes seem to sell as does anything associated with cooking.. aprons, hot pads, microwave stuff.

We do one "keeper" spring show, skip the summer (too hot and not enough sales) and start up again in the fall.

I "do" the Farmer's Market every summer and I'm fairly successful, but I sell tee shirts and smaller items there. Baby bibs do well, as do kitchen towels and aprons. (None of which I have in my Etsy store.) I'll tell you what doesn't sell...... I make killer ski sweaters and they just do NOT sell in summer. I don't even bother taking them along except at Christmas when it's cold. I don't even bother in October -- not until usually November or later. Small stuff sells well in summer. Hankies are a big seller, as well as the bibs and towels. Baby items are good all year long. We don't have very many new babies up here in the mountains, but we have a ton of grandmas, so they are always looking for something for their newest grandchild.

I have a friend who does only farmers markets and she sells anything kitchen cooking related. Hot pads, pot holders, mug sleeves, coasters, placemats, aprons, dish towels and dish cloths.

I only do 1 summer show and it is a fundraiser for children in our area. I do well at it but get alot of orders as well.
