I would love to see how everyone's shop looks for craft shows. I know this is a very important thing to consider when starting so I'm working on my set up now. Show me yours if you have a picture.
So excited to find this team! I am working on more shows. I have done a few in the past and my last one was very good. It was at a local Winery. (I think finding your niche show (s) is very important... and a little wine to loosen the pocketbook always helps!). I've done allot of work gathering display pieces.. what do you think?
I think the keys to a successful design is to decide the look you want and then find display items that help you acheive it. I have been doing shows for 15 years and I change stuff all the time. Initially I used what I had and it was......ok. Our current set-up is perfect for us now and helps us stand apart. We have jewelry, cards, purses, scarves and primirtive decor. Our booth is a lesson in excess but it works. There are at least 1000 pieces in our booth. People come in and spend 20-45 minutes looking. We use old shutters and printer's trays for jewelry, folded books, wire shelves on tables, old wooden crates, siutcases, crazy quilts as table cover and curtains that both veil the booth and beckon people in. The only set-back is that our full booth display requires a trailer full of stuff and hours to set up, but we also do smaller versions for smaller shows. Take the time to make your booth define you and you will stand apart.
I always sit in the back, usually behind a table. i don't like to sit in the front or out in the open. plus in the back, i can put things under the tables and have easy access to everything. plus i usually have 2 kids with me, so sitting in the back gives them a space to goof off.
KnotaGeek - I absolutely LOVE how you have your beanies displayed! I've been looking for something like that to display mine on. What is it exactly? If you don't mind me asking. :D
