Question about Square Reader and inputting Individual items

Hi! I used Intuit's card reader for my my first couple of shows, but I was curious about using Square because Intuit's swiper won't work with my phone (I have to manually input cc numbers).

I've downloaded the square app to my phone, but I don't see a way to add individual items or tally things. I just want to see if I am missing something obvious here..lol. Can Square tally up items or do you have to just put in a total?

Unless you have an iPad, you have to put in the total sale. Items are only available for the iPad - not even the iPhone. I write up a physical receipt for credit card sales anyway - a lot of people still prefer getting that.

I do the same thing as Michelle.
I had vistaprint make up a notebook pad of receipts, and they work great. i got tired of asking for email, etc, and this was another great way to also give my info to the customer.

You could also use the description to itemize items (but still will not add up for you!!

And don't forget to set up sales tax on your Square - that calculation it will do for you! Which is a great time saver for cash sales, as well as the fact the Square will calculate how much change you owe someone (don't know if the Intuit reader does this too).

As for description - I usually just put the show name in, if I have time (lines of customers can make that not worth it for the cash sales - haven't had too many requests for a receipt from cash customers).
