Payment Processing Problems!

In case you haven't heard, Etsy's again having problems with their payment processor. Orders are backing up for many sellers since at least yesterday afternoon. I am wondering if this will affect sellers who use the Etsy gadget to process credit cards at shows this weekend?

This happens WAY too often for me to trust using Etsy's payment processor. I have one, but have never used it and don't plan to. I'll stick with my Square. It's served me well and the only time I had trouble with it was on a Saturday morning at a show. They have a phone number and I spoke to a live body at 9am on a Saturday morning. Turns out it was something very simple that I could fix in less than a minute.

Plus, I don't think I need Etsy involved in my craft show business.

Yeah, I'm with Deb. I like the customer service with square and I want my craft fair business to be independant from my Etsy business.

The payment processing problems are on the Etsy web site. I was just wondering if those problems would extend to the Etsy gadget; haven't heard that they have ...

Although I have the Etsy gadget, I have never used it; never even tried it! Maybe it'll be a collectible someday. LOL! I've used Square for almost 6 years and it's always worked well for me.

There are STILL payment processing problems on the Etsy site this morning. I received an order on Friday that didn't clear until mid-morning Saturday, but some transactions are taking much longer than that.

These kind of issues are exactly why I did not integrate PP with Etsy Card service.

According to the information Etsy has provided about the problems this weekend, Paypal payments was working fine, BOTH for stand alone, and integrated Paypal. It's Etsy's payment processor company that is the issue.

I just had a processing order from yesterday finally come through as process so it looks like things should be on their way to working again.

I was getting nervous because I had a good amount of orders come in yesterday and today!!

When this happened in February I processed credit cards at a show and yes those payments were on hold as well. In my case the customers left with goods, the show was on Saturday payment did not clear until Monday.

I can't recall how I figured it out during the show, I think I did not get a email confirmation of the sale, but it also could've been it did not show up in my shop payment account. I was busy at a show I did not have time to look at the forums until that evening to see what was happening. I usually check email several times throughout a show to make sure payments are coming in regardless of what processor, the lack of email from etsy made me stop using the card reader, I had two transactions affected by it at that time.

I have a large show this weekend and will not be using the Etsy card reader.

I have a Direct Checkout order from the 5th that hasn't been processed yet! My Paypal and Direct Checkout are NOT integrated. My Paypal orders are going through just fine!
I didn't integrate them because I didn't want automatic withdrawals from Paypal.
I use that money to shop online! I like to have the control of withdrawing my money when I want to, and leaving enough for my purchases.

I have 2 orders that haven't processed. But others have gone through. One of the 'pending' is with an old customer, so if not resolved by today, I'll ship out.

I hate to do it, but this mess is hurting my biz and I don't want to cause anyone any hurt.

An order placed on July 4 came through today only, another one is still in the queue. For another one I was able to steer the customer towards Paypal (only because we had convos going back and forth) and it went through as usual. I am not one to complain in the forums all the time about little things that go wrong etc. but this is really starting to annoy me.

I can't believe how many sellers, both in the forums & in Etsy-related FB groups, are saying that they're going ahead and shipping orders so their reputation doesn't get tarnished.

My last Etsy order was the one I mentioned in the 1st post, so I've not had to really deal with this mess yet. If I were to receive an order from a repeat customer, I might consider shipping it before payment has cleared, but not for a first time customer; no how, no way. I'm pretty sure that shoppers could cancel payment by contacting their CC company and, if the order had already been shipped, the seller would be screwed.

Many payments started to get processed late yesterday, but new DC orders were still getting stuck for at least a few hours.

Good idea to NOT use the Etsy card reader for the time being.

I had 4 orders on the 4th and 5th. I had one go through on Tuesday and the rest processed yesterday morning.

Once the orders process, Etsy is sending the money that day to our bank accounts so that's nice.

I have since turned of DC because I also did not combine my DC and paypal so currently I'm only using paypal until this gets fixed.

I did have an order that I completed before the order processed, because it was a digital order and not very expensive so I figured I could take the chance.

The other orders actually take me a good week to complete but I did the proofs while waiting for the orders to be processed. I'm not completely sure if I would have shipped them before they processed or not. More likely I probably would have even though that would be super concerning if it took that long to get the issue fixed but I'm pretty sure the money was always there, it was just getting hung up so I was never worried that I would never get paid.

well, both of mine hangups cleared yesterday, but I was going to ship them out.

the big one was to a regular customer. The other was a small (less than $15) order to someone new. I figured, at worst, I'd lose the real cost of that order & shipping cost.

worth the risk.

at the end, it wasn't needed. But even so, I did compensate my customers with a free gift for their burden. Wasn't needed, but I hope it will be appreciated.

We are caught up on processing but our views and sales are way way down :-(

Could be a coincidence,but I wonder if buyers are hesitant now?
